MAAFA is co-leading the design and development of the Sankofa Wellness Village, a $50 million investment in the revitalization of the West Garfield Park community. With the support of the $10 million Chicago Prize awarded to the Garfield Park Rite to Wellness Collaborative, an organization dedicated to revitalizing West Garfield Park, we are building a federally qualified health center, a social innovation hub to cultivate small businesses, a credit union, a community grocery initiative, and the MAAFA Center for Arts & Activism, ”The MAC” (pictured above). • Restores a historic Episcopal church building

• Houses MAAFA Redemption Project programming and allows for expansion of services.

• Serves as the arts hub of West Garfield Park.

• Houses the Sankofa School of the Arts. In 2023, 92 students ages 4-18 were served.

• Infuses $6M of investment into West Garfield Park.
